Do you want to put your Christmas tree back in the ground after the holidays? Let us help!
Although we love putting our BeterBoompjes with a root ball back into the ground every year, we are also regularly asked how you can do that replanting yourself. That's why in this blog we answer the question: How do you plant a Christmas tree back in your garden?
First of all, it's important to know that not every Christmas tree will survive. That is very unfortunate, but true. According to Milieu Centraal, the chance that your Christmas tree will survive in the garden is 40 to 60 percent. Did your Christmas tree barely survive December? Then it will probably not bloom again when it goes back into the ground. Does your tree still look pico bello, with those beautiful green needles and a healthy root ball? Then it is much more likely that it will shine just as much outside as inside! A small Christmas tree with a big root ball ultimately has the greatest chance of surviving in your garden.
1. Let the tree get used to the cold temperature before you put it in the ground. For example, by putting it in the shed or garage for a few days.
2. Make a large hole and partially fill it with plant humus or soil improver (no fertilizer!). Place the tree in the hole and make sure it does not go deeper than it was previously in the pot or soil.
3. Use lots of water when replanting. Feel free to empty two buckets into the hole before the tree arrives.
4. Make sure that the root ball and needles of the tree are and stay moist by watering it regularly.
Oh yes. Do not put your Christmas tree in the ground when it freezes. That doesn't make him happy. And do you want to bring the Christmas tree back into your home for the holidays? Then skip a year first. Your tree has a better chance of survival if you only dig it out for Christmas dinner after two years.
Replanting a Christmas tree is a great way to give it a second life, but it's also a big job! Hopefully, our tips will help you. Would you rather let someone else do the replanting? Then choose a BeterBoompje with a root ball and return it to us after the holidays, so that we can give it a spot in the Christmas tree forest in January.
