How do I take care of my Christmas tree?

In movies and on Christmas cards, Christmas trees always look perfect. The right shape, beautiful green and beautiful full branches. At home, that's a different story, because how do you take care of your Christmas tree? We'd love to give you some tips.

First of all, it's important to realize that everyone is unique. This also applies to Christmas trees. Maybe your BeterBoompje has a hanging branch, or a bare spot. That's what makes him extra special.

All right, hold that...

If, after a long period of worrying (read: comparing with other trees), you have finally chosen a Christmas tree, getting it into your living room in one piece is still quite an art. Maybe it had to be taken with you in the car, the cargo bike, or you carried it around town for a bit. That's not going to bother you, and neither is your Christmas tree.

That takes getting used to...

A BeterBoompje comes from the winter cold, which is why it is so useful to let it get used to before it gets a place in your warm living room. A cool place, such as a shed, garage or storeroom, is best for this. When he has recovered from the move, the big moment has come: your BeterBoompje can finally go in.

Let it sit in the pot

Once inside, we recommend leaving the tree in the pot. You may be tempted to pull it out. Don't do it! Just let it sit, because he has become very attached to his pot. Also, do not place your tree directly next to a heat source. He does come out of the cold, but he doesn't like it right next to the heating.

Love and water

Give your tree lots of love and plenty of water every day. Close to the trunk and keep the soil/root ball moist. To check that the water reaches the bottom (and not the floor), it is best to place a saucer under the pot. Do you want to put the scissors in your Christmas tree? Don't do it! Your little tree is beautiful just the way it is.

Angel hair and artificial snow

This year, opt for sustainable Christmas decorations and LED lights and leave out the angel hair and artificial snow. It won't make your tree happy, and it can also cause your pets to get sick!
